Brazil: The Working Group, established by the National Chemical Safety Commission (Conasq) and in coordination with the Ministry of the Environment proposes a draft regulation for the control and use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) in Brazil.

The said proposal will adopt European Directive 2011/65/EU Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS).

This draft proposal specifies restrictions on the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, binefil polybromate, diphenyl polybromate and four phthalates which are commonly used in toys, computers, cell phones, etc.

A meeting to finalize the proposal occurred on August 23 and August 24, 2018.
