California Proposition 65, also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act or the simplified Prop 65, affects numerous consumer goods sold or distributed in California. Prop 65 is a consumer “right-to-know law” and affects products such as toys, juvenile products, food contact, jewelry, eyewear and many more. There are currently 850+ chemicals listed as known carcinogens or reproductive toxins by Prop 65 including lead. Failure to comply with Prop 65 could lead to steep fines and could have a negative brand impact on your company.
