Dominic Ho joined the UL Board of Directors in 2007, bringing years of experience in providing expert insight into industry-focused audit and tax and advisory services. Dominic channels his exceptional understanding of China’s government and economy to help guide UL’s business activities.
Starting as an auditor with KPMG in Houston, Texas, Dominic became Co-Chairman of KPMG in China and Hong Kong in 2003. Before becoming chairman, he helped the firm expand into China, setting up the company’s first office in the country in 1985. As a result of his work, the firm possessed more than 40% of the market share of the top-50 major public companies by market capitalization in China and Hong Kong. This expansion resulted in the hiring of more than 7,000 staff members in China and 2,000 in Hong Kong by the time Dominic retired in 2007.
Dominic assisted China in setting up its privatization program and the China Security Regulatory Commission. He was also active in taking the first initial public offering in the People’s Republic of China to the New York and Hong Kong stock exchanges simultaneously.
Dominic was a member of the American Institute of Accountants and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also sits on the boards of Singapore Airlines Limited in Singapore, Hang Lung Properties Limited Hong Kong and DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited as an Independent Non-executive director. Previously, Dominic was a member of the Hong Kong-based Corruption Prevention Advisory Committee of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) as well as the Insurance Advisory Committee.
