UL Water Product Certification

Drinking Water Treatment Unit Standards

UL is accredited in the United States and Canada to certify drinking water treatment units to both aesthetic and health affects claims including:

  • Chillers
  • Coolers
  • Cation Exchange Water Softeners
  • Distillation Units
  • Reverse Osmosis Systems
  • Ultraviolet Microbiological Treatment Systems

Depending on the type of product submitted and manufacturers claims, UL will certify the product to one or more of the following standards.

ANSI/NSF Standard 42: Drinking Water Treatment Units-Aesthetic Effects

The point-of-use and point-of-entry units covered by this Standard are designed to be used for reduction of specific contaminants that may be present in drinking water (public and private). Systems covered under this Standard are intended to reduce substances that affect the aesthetic quality of the water.
