Often times it’s easy to get too close to your business; so close that you miss the big picture. UL ClearView can help you understand the details that drive day-to-day business performance, and the impact they can have on achieving your longer-term goals.

UL ClearView is a new, customizable assessment methodology that enhances the way companies make business improvement decisions. UL ClearView uses a mix of remote web-based assessments and traditional face-to-face audits to gather, collate and report information. It provides a timely and cost-effective way to include many, if not all, of your employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders in the assessment process. This unique approach is underpinned by established best practices of process-based management, as promoted by international standards such as ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:1999

Potential UL ClearView applications:

  • Pre-audit gap analysis
  • Identify high-potential improvement opportunities
  • Identify compliance issues with international standards such as ISO 9001:2000
  • Identify key business risks
  • Minimize cost and inconvenience of current assessment activity
  • Internal audits
  • Monitor post-audit improvement plans
  • Report audit findings against business objectives or performance drivers

Identify the Key Issues

UL ClearView identifies performance drivers on which an organization is most at risk and which offer the greatest potential for improvement. These might include:

  • Rework rates and returns
  • Inefficiencies of information flow between departments
  • Customer complaints, compliance variance and on-time delivery

The Approach

UL ClearView is customized to your organization's unique situation. Remote web-based assessments are easy to set up and administer and fully supported by UL. Participants with Internet access simply log in at a convenient time, and then respond to a series of statements appropriate to a participant's role and responsibility. A mix of universal and customized statements are designed to address an organization's specific needs and requirements. These web-based assessments take no longer than 20 minutes, and are a way to include the input of time-pressured employees, customers and suppliers. Web-based assessments are anonymous, so that participants are assured that responses cannot be linked their name.

To complete the evaluation process, UL schedules face-to-face audits. The information gathered from the online assessments is used by UL auditors to develop and guide the in-person audits. All assessment responses are anonymous and are treated with the strictest confidence.

Deliverables

UL can provide a variety of customized deliverables based on an organization's needs. A standard set of deliverables at the end of a UL ClearView assessment includes:

  • Executive summary
  • Working session facilitated by UL with the audited organization
  • Reports that link findings to performance indicators
  • Detailed diagnostic information
  • Online comparisons of results by individual sites, departments and job functions, and over time
  • Recommendations on how to check process improvements within twelve months of the initial assessment
