Sign already installed? Meet requirements with a field evaluation

Every once in a while for one reason or another you are taken be surprise at the last minute by a customer or electrical inspector. They are looking for Listing of the Sign.

UL has developed a Listing type service called Classification Service that can accommodate your needs. This service is known as a Field Evaluation and the evaluation is conducted where the sign has been installed. Field evaluations are on-site safety evaluations conducted by experienced UL technical staff members. To find out more, please see our Field Evaluation Services Web area.

Search for UL Listed sign manufacturers

Looking for information on whether or not the electric sign in your place of business is UL Listed? Specific information regarding companies that have UL Listings through our General Coverage Sign Program and Changing Message Sign Program can be found using UL's Certifications database. To search for signs covered under these two programs, first go to the Search by Category Control Number (CCN)/ File Number page.

  • For General Coverage Sign Program Listings, enter the letters "UXYT" in the space that asks for the Category Control Number (CCN).
  • For Changing Message Sign Program Listings, enter the letters "UYFS" in the CCN space.

Listed companies that comply with the requirements for these categories will appear.
