How can UL assist you in the field? UL offers many services related to product certification of installed products, whether they're in place to support you, the manufacturer or others. Field Engineering Services

You’re making a routine inspection and find a new piece of equipment, already installed, that does not bear a third-party certification Mark, or you know has been significantly modified since its manufacture. What do you do?

UL offers a range of options with its Field Engineering Services for situation just like these. Three programs, tailored to your specific needs, take your requirements into consideration. UL’s Field Evaluation, Field Investigation and Field Inspection Services are designed to help determine compliance in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Field Reports

Field Reports are defined as complaints that are directed to UL in connection with products that have allegedly malfunctioned during use and bear Underwriters Laboratories Inc. Listing, Classification or Recognition Markings. Also included are reports of misuse of UL Marks on products not eligible to be marked, on packaging where the UL Mark is improperly related to products in the packaging or in advertising. We all share responsibility for protecting the UL Mark.

If you observe a situation in which the UL Mark has been applied in the field, the UL Mark is being misused, a company's reference to UL is misleading, or a UL Listed product has failed to operate safely, please submit a Field Report directly to the UL Field Report Department using one of the following forms:
