UL and TTBS Sign Agreement to Promote National Safety Standards and Enhance Market Access for Trinidad and TobagoNorthbrook, Ill., September 22, 2007 -- Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards (TTBS) announced today an agreement to promote the use of UL Standards for Safety in the ongoing development of national safety standards in Trinidad and Tobago via formalized consulting, communication and information exchange protocols. The agreement was signed by both UL and TTBS management. This is the fourth such agreement announced by UL in support of its public safety mission and brand globalization initiatives. Earlier, UL announced a similar agreement with INTECO, the national standards body of Costa Rica in Central America, with IBNORCA, the national standards body of Bolivia in South America, and with SII, the national standards body of Israel. "Underwriters Laboratories is pleased to be working with TTBS to advance our global public safety mission by deploying UL Standards for Safety nationwide in Trinidad and Tobago," said Bob Williams, UL Vice President, Global Standards. "As the national standards body in Trinidad and Tobago, TTBS officials are demonstrating foresight in promulgating the world's most trusted and widely recognized set of safety standards across their markets and infrastructure. TTBS is accredited as the national standards writing organization in Trinidad and Tobago, and has already begun the process of adopting UL standards for use with in the country.
