UL Warns of Counterfeit Extension CordsNORTHBROOK, IL, Sept. 13, 2006 - Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is notifying consumers that the 25- and 50-feet extension cords identified below have not been evaluated for safety by UL and bear a counterfeit UL Mark for the United States. Units: Unknown quantity Date of Manufacture: Unknown Manufacturer: Unknown Identification:On the product: The cord is red or yellow in color with a plug on one end and a three-outlet receptacle on the opposite end. The cord surface is marked with the following information: UL SJTW 105ºC

These counterfeit extension cords are similar to extension cords that are authorized to bear the UL Mark. The authorized product has a UL holographic label attached to the cord.
