UL Warns of Potentially Hazardous Wall-Mounted Air HeaterNORTHBROOK, Ill., June 6, 2008 - Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is notifying consumers and retailers that wall-mounted heaters manufactured by Econo-Heat may pose a risk of fire. Name of Product: Model 0601 Units: Unknown quantity Date of Manufacture: November 2005 to January 2006 Manufacturer: Econo-Heat, Cape Town, South Africa Hazard: Electrical connections may not be properly secured, causing them to overheat and pose a risk of fire. Identification: On the product: The heaters bear a nameplate with an unauthorized UL Mark for the United States and Canada and the following information: ECONO-HEAT What You Should Do: UL recommends that consumers stop using the heaters and contact Econo-Heat for further instructions.
