UL Warns of Potentially Hazardous Halogen Table Lamps

Northbrook, Ill., USA - March 17, 2005 - Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is notifying consumers and retailers that halogen table lamps manufactured by Lian Sheng Lamp Decoration & Electrical Factory do not meet UL safety requirements and may pose a fire hazard to users.

Name of Product: Halogen Desk Lamp, models 044103 or XH-420

Units: Unknown Quantity

Manufacturer: Lian Sheng Lamp Decoration & Electrical Factory

Date of Manufacture: June 1998 through March 2005

Hazard: Testing by UL has determined that the lamp may pose a risk of fire when the lamp head comes in close contact with a combustible material or surface.

Identification:
On the product: The label on the bottom of the lamp base is marked with "Model 044103" or "XH-420," the electrical rating of "120V, 60Hz, AC Only, Max 100W T Bulb," the words "Made In China" and "E161263." The holographic cULus Listing label, with the markings "Portable Luminaire" and "E161263" attached to the base near the cord exit.

What you should do: Stop using the product immediately and return it to the place of purchase.
