UL Warns of potentially hazardous decorative light strings

Northbrook, Ill., Feb. 16, 2007 -- Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is notifying consumers and retailers that the decorative light string identified below may pose a shock or fire hazard.

Manufacturer: Shanghai Oriental Christmas Light Co Ltd. in Zhejiang, China

Date of Manufacture: Unknown

Hazard: The light strings have undersized wire and insulation that does not comply with UL's Standards for safety and poses a potential electric shock or fire hazard.

The product has a UL holographic label attached to the cord with the UL Listing Mark and the following information:

A tag attached to the cord has the warning:
