UL Warns of Potentially Hazardous NightlightNORTHBROOK, Ill., Feb. 16, 2005 -- Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is notifying consumers that nightlights manufactured by Yuyao Xingma Plastics & Electric Factory may pose a risk of electric shock. Name of Product: Sensor Light - Nightlight, model ML-F Units: Approximately 270,000 units in the field. Manufacturer: Yuyao Xingma Plastics & Electric Factory, Zhejiang, China Date of Manufacture: December of 2003 Hazard: The lamp cover is not properly secured and may fall off or be pulled off, posing a risk of an electric shock. Identification: On the product: The nightlight has a clear lamp cover that is shaped like a seashell. The UL holographic label attached on the plug side of the nightlight includes the date code "12/03," a UL Listing Mark, the word "nightlight" and control number "44PM." On the packaging: The front of the packaging is marked "Sensor Light," the UL Listing Mark, "E200659" and "NO ML-F". The back of the packaging is marked "Dollar Tree Dist., Chesapeake, VA 23320" and "Made in China." What you should do: UL encourages consumers to discontinue the use of this product immediately. The product should be carefully removed from the receptacle, taking caution not to contact any electrical parts that may be exposed during removal.
