UL Is On Call for Your TL 9000 Needs

What is TL 9000?

TL 9000 was developed by QuEST Forum (Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications) to meet the quality requirements of the worldwide telecommunications industry. TL 9000 applies to all suppliers of telecommunications hardware, software and services and is designed to:

  • Establish a common set of quality system requirements and effective performance and cost-based metrics to guide processes
  • Evaluate results of quality system implementation
  • Drive continuous improvement
  • Enhance customer/supplier relationships
  • Protect the integrity and use of telecommunication products and services

QuEST Forum used ISO 9000 as a baseline and the requirements of existing industry standards and practices in developing the TL 9000 requirements. The development of sector-specific requirements for hardware, software and services quality system and metrics requirements is an essential part of TL 9000.

Registration to TL 9000

TL 9000 quality system requirements will allow for registration to the hardware, software and/or services quality system requirements. Multiple registration options will allow users to register according to the nature of their business.

Three registration options (or any combination) are offered:

  • TL 9000-H (hardware quality system requirements and metrics)
  • TL 9000-S (software quality system requirements and metrics)
  • TL 9000-V (services quality system requirements and metrics)

Registrar accreditation

QuEST Forum will only accept third-party registrations from registrars that meet the requirements defined in Appendix B-the code of practice for TL 9000 registrars. UL meets all these criteria and was included in the first group of accredited registrars.
