UL Warns of Potential Safety Hazards with Counterfeit Shop and Job Site RadiosNORTHBROOK, Ill., - Oct. 20, 2004 - Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is notifying consumers and merchandisers that a shop radios manufactured by Changzhou Master Electric Appliance Co. bear counterfeit UL Listing Marks, do not meet the UL safety requirements, and may pose a fire hazard to the user. Name of Product: Shop and Job Site Radio, Model MYWR-1A, Rated 120 V, 1.0 A, 60 Hz. Units: Approximately 2,600 units Manufacturer: Changzhou Master Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., China Date of Manufacture: July 2003 to October 2003 Hazard: This product offers a feature that allows consumers to use batteries or a battery pack similar to those used in portable power tools. Using the battery pack with this product has been determined to cause a potential fire hazard. Identification: What you should do: UL encourages consumers to immediately discontinue use of this product, contact the manufacturer and/or return it to the place of purchase.
