UL has three locations in Italy, near Monza and Milan, and has been established in the country since April 1998.
Our testing laboratory in Carugate is a CBTL under the IECEE scheme for Appliances, components and EMC, with a lab space covering over 1700 square meters and able to provide testing and evaluation services for a wide range of Appliances and Components and PV inverters for European and International Market Access. Our technicians are able to test and evaluate your products under the latest regulation of Electrical Safety, and EMC testing.
On May 15, 2012 we opened a new UL testing laboratory in Burago di Molgora, focused on lighting. This laboratory brings together all of our lab installations for lighting in Italy, in a single 3,000 sqm facility dedicated to lighting technologies - safety, energy-efficiency and other verification services. This laboratory is a Centre of Excellence that serves as a hub for all of Europe - serving clients in a wide spectrum of testing services for global safety and performance of LED and OLED Solid State Lighting equipment, including Photometric testing and without excluding other light-source technologies. The Burago laboratory is accredited to offer European and international programmes for energy efficiency of luminaires, including ENERGY STAR® and Natural Resources Canada, Lighting Facts® as well as solutions for the interchangeability of LED light engines to comply with Zhaga standards – in this regard, UL is a Zhaga Authorized Test Centre and a lead participant in developing Zhaga specifications.
With the combined capabilities of our Italian locations we have a large capacity for the testing of products in the categories of Appliances, Lighting, Components (such as Motors Terminal blocks, electronic controllers and many more), Industrial Equipment, Plastics, Medical devices, Information Technology equipment & Consumer electronics. Testing for other categories can be carried out by using our vast network of facilities and expertise in other locations. We can help you to obtain many of the marks you need for access around the globe.
UL Environment Italia SrL offers environmental claims validation, multi-attribute product certification, environmental product declarations, indoor air quality certification, product emissions testing, organizational sustainability certification, and consulting.
UL is an associate with the Italian Lighting Association, Assil, ASSOLUCE, AIDI and is a member of CEI (the Italian electrical committee). UL has a relationship with UCIMU - the association of Italian manufacturers of machine tools, robots, automation and ancillary products, and we are a member of ASSOCOMAPLAST**. We cooperate with the Commercial Food Preparation Association, helping to encourage the adoption guidelines for sanitation of food preparation equipment.
UL Environment Italia SrL is a member of Green Building Council (GBC) Italia, a non-profit association and part of the international network of the GBC, present in many other countries. GBC Italia is also a partner of the US GBC.
