CTIA battery certification service
As portable electronic devices - mobile phones, MP3 players, laptop computers, game consoles, and many more - proliferate in everyday life, the efficiency and reliability of batteries to power them becomes ever more critical. Defective and substandard batteries are not only irritating, but can be hazardous to the user, and occasional incidents have raised significant safety concerns.
UL's well established expertise in product testing and certification can assist manufacturers and suppliers in assuring that battery products and systems meet established standards for safety and performance.
UL can now offer mobile telephone battery certification services in partnership with CTIA - the Wireless Association®.
Background
CTIA is an international non-profit membership association founded in 1984 to represent all sectors of wireless communications - cellular, personal communication services and enhanced specialized mobile radio. CTIA provides a range of services to assist the industry with the complex task of checking and evaluating wireless devices.
CTIA provides battery certification services through CTIA Authorized Test Labs (CATLs). A CATL evaluates Systems, Subsystems and manufacturing sites against criteria defined by CTIA.
