UL Japan Battery Lab Becomes Accredited as CBTL for Category "BATT" (IEC 62133)

UL Japan recently announced its accreditation by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as a Certification Body Testing Laboratory (CBTL) for the IECEE product category "BATT" (IEC 62133). The addition of this accreditation expands on UL's service offerings to global manufacturers of battery packs and cells through the enhancement of the organizations Global Market Access (GMA) program.
By helping to reduce the time, effort and costs for battery manufacturers through the introduction of customized certification and standardization programs, UL is the one-stop resource for certification Marks recognized around the world.
UL's GMA Program provides a wide range of solutions for its customers, with the focus to bring products to market in a timelier manner. UL's customized services offer manufacturers a "one-stop resource" to certify products for entry into new markets across the globe. The market access services provided for battery manufacturers include, among others, UN Transportation Testing, CTIA battery certification program and entry to markets like Korea, Japan and Taiwan. Manufacturers are required to submit one set of product samples for the applicable tests, saving them time and money through efficiency.
Additionally, UL helps manufacturers avoid complexity and confusion in the global certification process by providing integrated on-site assessments so companies can provide assessment data for global regulatory approvals. UL experts help manufacturers understand international regulatory requirements, working with manufacturers at their own convenience, in their own language and in their own time zone. UL's international accreditations help maximize efficiencies in testing and auditing requirements.
Currently, the organization has established advanced battery testing facilities in China, Taiwan, Japan and the United States. After China and Taiwan, Japan is the third battery lab within the UL family to perform as CBTL for BATT category.
