This field-assembled equipment is intended for use in Hazardous (Classified) Locations in accordance with Article 505 of the National Electrical Code.

The category "Junction and Pull Boxes for Use in Class I, Zone 0, 1, and 2 Hazardous (Classified) Locations (BGYM)" covers sheet-metal boxes, cast-metal boxes, and nonmetallic boxes intended for making wiring connections only. All boxes in this category are for use with threaded rigid conduit or steel intermediate metal conduit, or other approved wiring methods in accordance with Section 505-15 of the NEC, NFPA 70.

The HazLoc standard used to investigate boxes for this category is UL 2279, "Electrical Equipment for Use in Class I, Zone 0, 1 and 2 Hazardous (Classified) Locations." This investigation can, in most cases, be coordinated with an ordinary locations (risk of fire and electrical shock) evaluation to UL 50, "Enclosures for Electrical Equipment."
