High tech assembly traceability program

UL's high tech assembly traceability program provides traceability for high technology subassemblies, which are a group of components that constitute a portion of a complete component or product.

This program is limited to use in a specific group of high tech equipment including audio/visual equipment, information technology equipment and telephone equipment. Each subassembly is constructed and/or tested in accordance with a drawing or specification provided by an end-product manufacturer. The subassembler is required to keep records that will trace the identity of all components and materials identified on a drawing or specification from receipt through storage, assembly, packaging and shipping. Subassemblies covered under this program are identified by a UL-assigned code designation and a subassembler's name and part identification. In addition, these subassemblies will also bear the UL Recognized Component Mark.

UL's high tech assembly traceability program creates value for the end-product manufacturer by providing traceability of the components used to construct a high technology subassembly that is assembled at an off-site location.

This program is covered under UL's Recognition Service under the category of Subassemblies for High Technology Equipment (VZQC2).
