Marks

UL offers three Marks that will help regulators more easily differentiate products that have been specifically evaluated and certified by UL for use in security and signaling applications. Regulators can identify that products bearing these Marks have not only been tested for safety but have also been evaluated to stringent performance requirements for security and signaling functions.

These Marks were created for the specific needs of regulators who make acceptance decisions regarding the installation of security and signaling equipment. Law enforcement officials and security agencies will find these Marks particularly useful.

The following three Marks will be required for all security and signaling products.

Note: The corresponding C-UL and C-UL-US Marks can be found on our downloadable marks pages.

Signaling Mark

The Signaling Mark applies to products such as fire and life-safety alarms. Typical products in this category are smoke detectors, fire alarms and hospital nurse call systems.

Security Mark

The Security Mark applies to products such as intrusion detectors, burglar alarms, access controls, anti-theft alarms, surveillance systems, safes and vaults.

Combination Signaling and Security Mark

The Combination Security and Signaling Mark applies to products that serve both security and signaling functions. A typical example is a combination fire and burglar alarm system. Such products are evaluated for both applications. Consequently, they are eligible for the combination Mark.
