Gas and Oil
The term "gas and oil" equipment encompasses over 150 different types of products intended for the handling and storage of a variety of fluids. These products include containers, container appurtenances, storage cabinets, piping, fittings, valves, pumps, meters, regulators, dispensers and their associated equipment, hoses, torches and solvent distillation units.
Such a variety of possible product families can make finding out where a product fits, the specific requirements that apply, and how to interpret them a very complicated process. UL, as one of the globally most recognized and reputable conformity assessment providers, offers clarity to this process.
UL has a long history of addressing gas and oil safety issues. Our first certifications for gas and oil equipment date back more than 80 years, with the first UL gas and oil equipment safety Standard being published in 1922.
