Motors

UL's team of dedicated motor professionals can help get products certified quickly and in the most cost-effective manner. We will work to identify services our customers may want or need and package and manages these services to increase the overall value added on a global level.

The UL Mark on Listed motors assures inspectors and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ's) that the motor has been evaluated to globally recognized requirements for fire, electric shock and injury to persons.  Manufacturers of end products know that UL Recognized component motors have been tested and evaluated to rigorous requirements for safety of rotating machinery designed to be factory installed.

Data Native Architecture (DNA)

DNA is a simpler process and report format for motor product safety evaluations and more readily lends itself to linking, sorting, searching and retrieving. This enables referencing previous construction and testing as a means to reduce the burden, turnaround time and cost for future submittals. DNA eliminates the text and simply catalogues and stores the critical data in this readily accessible database. Learn more about DNA.

Changing Requirements for Energy Efficiency

Sweeping changes are unfolding across the electric motor industry. The US, Canada, China and the EU are all in the process of enacting legislation which would change the energy efficiency requirements for three-phase electric motors. UL can assist motor manufacturers in navigate the shifting seas of environmental compliance. Learn more about UL's energy efficiency program for motors.
