COMPUTEX TAIPEI Special - Knowledge seminar for Greater China engineers

As a leading product safety certification organization, UL closely follows the trends in emerging technologies in the High-Tech industry, in particular on conformity issues.  A technical seminar given by UL experts took place prior to COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2011, the largest computer exhibition in Asia, to introduce to the audience the design trends and the corresponding compliance strategies.

The knowledge seminar titled "Design for Compliance in Emerging Technologies" is a continuation of a similar event UL held at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the United States.  Based on the positive feedback from the CES, we decided to bring this seminar to Taiwan.

The full-day seminar was held on May 30 and there were four sessions:

  • Innovating Safety Engineering:  A Supply Chain Perspective on Hazard Based Safety Engineering - What is the Implication of IEC 62368-1?

This session provided background and updates on the new international standard IEC 62368-1 and looked ahead to the challenges and potential impact of its implementation from a supply chain perspective.

  • The Green Marketplace: Demonstrate Compliance with Energy-efficiency and Environmental Sustainability Requirements

This session focused on existing trends and regulations in energy efficiency.  Participants were introduced to UL's Energy Efficiency Certification Program in order to understand the new and existing regulations in the field of energy efficiency in North America.

  • Emerging Market Access: Bridging International Compliance Gap for Your Electronics Products

This session allowed participants to tap into local UL knowledge and expertise for a full spectrum of global certification process ranging from developing compliance strategies, identifying critical standards and requirements, conducting all necessary testing/evaluations, preparing and submitting certification-ready documentation to applicable certification organizations, and facilitating sample management and invoice payments.

  • Going Wireless: FCC and IC Wireless Regulations for Test and Certificate

Going wireless is becoming more and more a reality in every aspect of our lives. In this session, UL CCS (Compliance Certification Services), a leader in standards and testing for new technologies, discussed the latest technologies, standards and testing techniques and review FCC and IC Wireless Regulatory Testing and Certification procedures.
