What is power distribution equipment?

In the simplest of terms, power distribution equipment consists of all electrical related equipment and/or components found between an incoming electrical service and the end-device or location receiving the power. Essentially, most everything that receives, delivers or controls electrical power is included within power distribution equipment.

What products are in power distribution equipment?

Power distribution equipment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Circuit breakers
  • Conduit & fittings
  • Control panels
  • Discrete components
  • Grounding equipment
  • Low voltage assembled equipment
  • Low voltage discrete equipment
  • Medium voltage assembled equipment
  • Motors and generators
  • Outlet boxes
  • Power supplies
  • Protective devices
  • Protectors
  • Raceways
  • Surge suppressors
  • Switches & switchgear
  • Transformers
  • Utilization equipment
  • Wiring devices
  • Wiring systems

What services can we offer with power distribution?

  • Product Certification
    • UL's safety certification services include testing, evaluation and factory surveillance of products to national, regional and international safety standards. These certifications enhance the safety of products, as well as the public's confidence in their compliance.
  • Preliminary Investigations

Global Market Access

Global Market Access

While the compliance requirements of different geographical markets may share commmon elements and objectives, each country or region may mandate requirements specific to national or regional regulatory concerns or implement different options for how these requirements can be met. Market-driven voluntary certification marks, such as CE may also need to be considered. These variations and nuances can cause major market challenges and delays for companies trying to introduce new products to markets.

Along with product safety certification, UL's services help manufacturers of products expand their global footprints by helping them access new and exciting markets around the world with our globally accepted certification programs. This includes, but is not limited to, UL's ability to evaluate, certify, and provide the CCC mark for products entering the Chinese marketplace for examples. Some of the marks we can provide include:

  • CCC Mark: China
  • C-Tick Mark: Australia
  • D Mark: Europe
  • GOST R Mark: Russia
  • INMETRO Mark: Brazil
  • KC Mark: Korea
  • NOM Mark: Mexico
  • PSE Mark: Japan
  • S Mark: Argentina
  • SIRIM Mark: Malaysia
  • UL Europe Mark

Standards we use for testing
