Global Market Access

Since UL 60730 is harmonized with IEC 60730, UL, through a single integrated evaluation and test program, provides the following bundled services to residential and commercial controls customers enabling them to sell their components beyond North America:

  • D Mark for Denmark
  • ENEC Mark for Europe
  • CB Scheme

Since UL 60691 is harmonized with IEC 60691, UL, through a single integrated evaluation and test program, provides the following bundled services to thermal link customers enabling them to sell their components beyond North America:

  • D Mark for Denmark
  • CB Scheme

D Mark for Denmark

The D Mark is a voluntary safety Mark registered and provided by UL Demko. It has been in use for more than 70 years and is a familiar symbol to consumers, retailers and manufacturers in Europe. The D-Mark demonstrates a control complies with EN 60730 or a thermal link complies with EN 60691.

The benefits of using UL as your integrated service provided are as follows:

  • Global market gateway accessible through UL-Demko's full membership in the CB Scheme as a National Certification Body (NCB) signatory in Europe.
  • The D-Mark is a verification of third party testing.
  • Competitive advantage: the D-Mark can be used for marketing the product throughout the European Union.

ENEC Mark for Europe

ENEC (European Norms Electrical Certification) is a voluntary mark for the many appliance categories and components, including controls and switches. The Mark certifies the compliance of a product with the harmonized European standards.  ENEC is widely recognized throughout Europe.

  • The "15" refers to UL International Demko A/S identifier.  This mark can be used in conjunction with the D Mark. For additional information, see www.enec.com.
  • Through a single, integrated test program, UL performs the necessary evaluation and testing enabling switch manufacturers to use the ENEC Mark.
  • Since the ENEC Mark is for Europe, manufacturers can gain access to twenty different markets through the use of a single mark, saving time and money.
  • The ENEC mark serves as a powerful marketing tool in Europe.
  • The ENEC mark is ecognized and accepted by end-product manufacturers who sell their products in Europe.
  • The ENEC Mark is a reliable basis for CE marking (Low-Voltage Directive) within the European Union.

IECEE CB Scheme

The CB Scheme is established by the International Electrotechnical Committee for Conformity Testing to Standards for Electrical Equipment (IECEE). It is an international system for mutual acceptance of test results among product testing and certification organizations of more than 52 participating countries of the CB Scheme.

  • Under the CB Scheme, UL as an NCB (National Certification Body) can conduct testing and evaluation in accordance with IEC 60730 or IEC 60691 and the national and group differences of the targeted export markets.
  • UL issues a CB Scheme's Test Certificate and a Test Report that can be used to obtain national certifications and safety marks for exporting of control and thermal links to other participating countries.
  • The CB Test Certificate and associated CB Test Report you receive from UL will minimize the need for additional testing when obtaining additional safety marks.
  • UL can also facilitate the work between bodies making the submittal process even more transparent and efficient.
