Certification Process Overview
UL Environment works closely with manufacturers to develop custom certification plans that take into account the manufacturer’s unique product line, manufacturing process, and certification goals.
- Consultation
- Client submits summary of requested certification services
- UL Environment reviews materials, prepares and delivers quote
- Client signs contract and UL Environment assigns an environmental project manager
- Testing/Auditing and Analysis
- Client submits product samples for testing, as necessary
- UL Environment conducts audits, as necessary
- UL Environment reviews testing and/or audit results
- Client receives report
- Certification
- UL Environment formally awards environmental product certifications
- Client begins using certification mark on conforming product
- UL Environment lists product in the Sustainable Product Database
- Maintaining Certification
- Client periodically submits product samples for re-testing
