Central station facility listing process

UL's Central Station Listing Programs will provide recognition that allows you to operate in a variety of markets where your company may have been unable to penetrate previously.

Categories

  • Central Station Burglar Alarm (CPVX)
  • Central Station Fire Alarm -- Full Service (UUFX)
  • Central Station -- Monitoring Only (UUFX)

Consulting services

If you're not certain if your facility would qualify for Listing, you may want to choose one of the following options:

  • Contact a certificate services representative for your area and provide a brief overview of your facility by phone. He may be able to informally advise whether your facility could comply.
  • It may be necessary to perform a building plan review. In this case we will perform a formal review and a report for fee. This will provide you with specific information as to whether your facility will comply with UL827, the Standard for Safety of Central-Station Alarm Service, or what may need to be done to meet these requirements.
  • For a fee, UL conducts onsite building consultations to evaluate the facility, and provides a comprehensive report of findings.

Central station automation systems

If your central station receiving equipment is connected to an automation system, it will be necessary to evaluate this system is in compliance with UL Standard 1981, the Standard for Safety of Central-Station Automation Systems. This evaluation will be conducted as part of your facility Listing evaluation. Please complete the Central Station Automation system worksheet.

Listing process

Once you have determined which of these categories you wish to obtain a Listing under, contact the UL office that services your area. You can request applications for Listing on this site.

After you have made initial contact with UL, you will need to request applications for Listing. We will also provide you with a pre-inspection preparation package. Complete, sign and return both the applications and completed pre-inspection package to UL with the required preliminary deposit.

If you are obtaining a Full Service Fire or Burglary Central Station Listing, you will also need to refer to the area on this site that prepares you for the field inspection portion of these Listings. This process will involve a two-day visit: one day evaluating the Central Station Facility and Equipment, and one day in the field evaluating installed systems. Refer to the pre-inspection documents for more information.
