Combining a clean water matrix focus, extensive certifications and comprehensive analytical scope, UL is your best choice for compliance analytical services. With extensive experience in the analysis of bottled water, UL offers the bottled water industry:

  • Bottled water expertise -- Our in-depth knowledge of bottled water monitoring requirements, including FDA, IBWA Code of Practice and specific state requirements, provides you with confidence that your testing will include all applicable monitoring requirements.
  • Comprehensive analytical scope -- UL performs virtually all analyses required for compliance, including organic and inorganic constituents, metals, microbiological and radiological parameters, and dioxins. With a dedicated research and development staff, we are also equipped to offer analyses for many noncompliance parameters, as well as new method development upon request.
  • Analytical experience -- UL has analyzed more than 1.5 million samples for thousands of bottlers, public water supplies, engineering firms, consultants, and state and federal agencies, including the military. In fact, UL conducts analyses of drinking water sites from around the world for the U.S. Army and Air Force.

Auditing services

In addition to our analytical services, bottlers can now leverage UL's global experience in auditing to demonstrate compliance with requirements of the IBWA Code of Practice or customer requirements. UL was selected by IBWA as an approved independent third-party contractor to provide annual plant inspections for IBWA members and candidate bottlers. Our auditing and client service professionals make UL's program superior to any other certification organization. We offer:

  • Experience -- UL is an ANSI-accredited global leader in quality management registration system assessments and has more than 6,000 clients in 70 countries.
  • Industry expertise -- Backed by our bottled water experts, UL auditors are well versed in GMP, HACCP and IBWA Code of Practice requirements. UL is well positioned to leverage its expertise for bottled water plant operational quality and bottled water safety.
  • Dedicated auditing staff -- At UL, we recognize the importance of auditor competence and consistency to our clients. UL has the advantage of a dedicated auditing staff, which allows for greater control, consistency and added value.
