New technical brief on what is IEC 62368-1 and what is it not?

As promoted heavily in High-Tech Direct, IEC 62368-1 is the new safety standard for safety for audio/video, information and communication technology equipment. It is gaining prominence as the First Edition has been in place for two years now and preparations are underway for the publication and eventual wider adoption of its Edition No. 2.  However, through this transition, it is becoming clear that there are misconceptions being held by some on exactly what IEC 62368-1 is, and what it is not.  Some of these misconceptions surfaced during the public review of the Edition No. 1 document during its adoption in the U.S., and some of these have subsequently surfaced in on-line discussion forums.

To help clarify what IEC 62368-1 is and is not, UL has issued a new IEC 62368-1 Technical Brief on the subject, authored by UL’s Tom Burke, U.S. Delegate to IEC TC108 and Al Brazauski, IEC TC108 Secretary.
