UL's Multiple Listing Service for private labelers

At the request of the potential multiple listee, and with concurrence of the basic applicant, UL authorizes the multiple listee's name, along with the appropriate UL Mark(s), to be applied on a UL certified product destined for the U.S. or Canadian market. The multiple listee's name and product information also appear in UL's Online Certifications Directory and hard-copy product directories with no mention of the basic applicant. The multiple listee can then market the product under its own company name.

Before applying for this service, there should be a complete understanding between the multiple listee and the basic applicant that the product submitted for Multiple Listing is in fact certified by UL in the United States and/or Canada for the basic applicant.

Difference between the basic product and the Multiple Listed product

The basic product and the Multiple Listed product must be identical except for company identification, product designation, color or trim, or other features judged by UL to be superficial. All construction, packaging and labeling of the Multiple Listed product, must be done at the basic applicant's manufacturing location(s).

Accompanying product literature

If the literature packaged with the multiple listee's product is identical to the basic applicant's literature, except for the company name or model designation, then no literature needs to be submitted.

If the literature is not the same as the literature packaged with the basic applicant's product or if UL engineering deems review is necessary, a copy of the multiple listee's use and care booklet and/or installation or safety instructions are needed for UL technical review.

Please Note: Upon review of a Multiple Listing request, UL engineering may consider a review of ML label or literature review necessary.
