Information on UL's data acceptance program (DAP)
NOTE: This information is from a previously printed press release, newsletter, or other dated document. It is presented here for archival purposes only.
February 26, 2008: As announced in UL's bulletins of September 24, 2006 and April 15, 2007 UL has enhanced the witness test data program.
Test equipment calibration
As previously announced, test equipment used for witness testing must comply with traceability requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 Clause 5.6.2.2. Client measurement equipment used for witness testing should be calibrated by an appropriately accredited third-party calibration laboratory.
UL extended the effective date of this requirement to January 1, 2009. UL now requires all test equipment to be traceable through accredited calibration service providers.
Additional information on sourcing accredited calibration sources can be found at DAP tools.
Using internal calibration resources
UL has established requirements for the use of internal resources to calibrate equipment in client laboratories as well as the use of external laboratories where no accredited calibration laboratories are available. Information is available at DAP tools.
Additional resources
- UL has also published supporting technical documents for consistent application of technical requirements at DAP tools. When UL witnesses tests at laboratories, these requirements will be applied. It is strongly suggested that each client review this information in advance of a witness test data project.
