Zero-tolerance in action

As the leader in product safety testing and certification, UL was the first to establish an anti-counterfeiting program to maintain the integrity of the UL Mark.  UL believes products that bear unauthorized certification marks are not only of poor quality, but can also pose potential shock and fire hazards to consumers.

• January 2009:  Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes Announces Seizure of Warehouse Used to Store Counterfeit Products from China
• October 2008:  Nine arrested on charges of trafficking in counterfeited merchandise
• July 2008:  Defendant sentenced to 48 months in prison for trafficking in more than $400,000 worth of counterfeit pharmaceuticals
• June 2008:  UL provides testimony to the senate committee on the judiciary
• May 2008:  Customs and border protection seizes counterfeit AC/DC adapters
• April 2007:  UL provides testimony to the Canadian Parliamentary Standing Committee
