Overview of hazardous locations-related services
UL provides a wide array of services to manufacturers of equipment for use in hazardous locations -- from obtaining U.S. safety certification to meeting international safety requirements.
Services include:
- Certification of equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres for the U.S. and Canadian Division and Zone Area classification schemes (this includes certification of electrical equipment and industrial control panels)
- European testing to CENELEC Standards for the CE and Epsilon-X Marking through DEMKO A/S, UL's wholly-owned subsidiary, as well as through KEMA and PTB
- Testing to Brazilian requirements for the INMETRO Mark through UCIEE in San Paulo, Brazil
- Ingress protection (IP) enclosure testing in accordance with international standard IEC 529 or EN 60 529
- Evaluation of products for compliance to FCC regulations and European EMC Directives (see UL's EMC Services)
- Field evaluation of products or systems already installed
- Evaluation of products in accordance with many Federal Register-CFR and U.S. Coast Guard requirements
- Motor efficiency verification in accordance with IEEE 112 and CSA C390
- Evaluation of motor repair shops in accordance with our Rebuilt Motor Program
Investigation of products or systems in accordance with NFPA requirements
