Interior finish materials
UL investigates and certifies interior finish materials, trim and decorative materials used in buildings for their surface burning characteristics.
General
The Steiner Tunnel is used for determining surface burning characteristics with regard to flame spread and smoke developed during fire exposure of the Classified materials in accordance with ANSI/UL 723 (ASTM E 84). An alternative test for selected materials, typically with a plastic core, is a room corner test conducted in accordance with ANSI/UL 1715 or NFPA 286. Information
