Cash for Appliances
In the footsteps of the successful Cash for Clunkers federal program, the U.S. government is launching a $300 million rebate program to encourage Americans to purchase energy-efficient major home appliances, such as dishwashers, clothes washers and refrigerators. The stimulus money has been divided among all U.S. states and territories by population, and each has developed a unique rebate plan.
Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the leading provider in electrical safety certification, provides the following comprehensive information to assist consumers in navigating the states' diverse rebate programs:
- When the rebate programs start in each state
- Which appliances qualify for rebates and the projected amount of rebate money for each
- How to determine if you need a new appliance
- How to keep your current appliances working like new
Information will be updated regularly throughout the duration of the state rebate programs, so check back often.
