UL customers expect UL Marks to be recognized by their customers, LAN system designers and the regulatory community. The new Mark clearly identifies products that have been evaluated for transmission performance to recognized industry performance standards. UL developed this Mark at the request of customers, to meet the unique needs of the communications industry.

The UL Listing Mark on a product means that UL has tested and evaluated representative samples of that product and determined that they meet the requirements of UL Standards for Safety, such as fire propagation, shock, etc. Products bearing a verification Mark have been investigated by UL to an industry performance standard, such as TIA/EIA. All UL Marks are registered certification Marks of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., and may only be used on or in connection with products certified by UL under the terms of written agreement with UL.

Our customers tell us that UL's performance verification testing provides a high level of confidence in their products by the communications industry, structured cabling system designers and consultants. The UL performance verification program lends credibility to your performance claims and is backed by a respected and knowledgeable third-party testing laboratory.

The new Mark features the famous UL in a circle. The word "verified" appears directly beneath the Mark. Labels on products indicate which performance standards were used to evaluate a product.

For products that are UL Listed and UL Verified, current and new UL Subscribers may use the Performance Verification Mark in their label designs at their option. A mandatory effective date for using the Performance Verification Mark will be decided after UL has had the opportunity to talk to current customers regarding a reasonable implementation period. We want to allow our customers time to make adjustments for production and packaging, as well as updating their promotional literature showing the new performance verification Mark. Our customers will play a significant role in determining an effective date. For products that are "Verified-Only" and do not bear a reference to a UL Listing Service, current and new UL Subscribers are required to use the Performance Verification Mark. 

This upgrade in product marking will not result in any additional cost.
