Functional Safety Recognized Component Mark
UL's functional safety component recognition service covers the evaluation of components or materials intended for use in an end product functional safety certification. A recognized component is one whose complete safety in its application cannot be evaluated by looking at the component alone, and so conditions of acceptability are placed around its use - so that it has to be used in that specific context in order for it to satisfy the functional safety requirements.
The appropriate symbol for promoting UL Functional Safety Component Recognition is the UL Functional Safety Recognized Component Mark.

The benefits of UL's recognized component program are unique to UL. (This is true whether speaking of functional safety or any other type of certification.) Although additional considerations need to be looked at when integrating the component, UL has already evaluated the fundamental functional safety characteristics - which make it easier for end users to integrate the component into their system. Knowing that this component is recognized for use in, say, up to SIL 3 systems, can streamline the process appreciably for the end user.
The UL Functional Safety Recognized Component Mark is available for both US and/or Canada country designations.
