Programmable Electronics/Software Safety Certification

At UL, we recognize that an increasing number of our clients design products using software controls much more complex than their traditional electromechanical predecessors. In response to this need, UL now offers Programmable Electronics/Software Safety (PE/SS), a program in which we review and certify programmable systems.

European union (EU) certification

UL can assist with European Union (EU) certification for manufacturers required to demonstrate compliance with EU directives, including the referenced European Standard EN60730-1 for the Automatic Electrical Controls, Part 1, General Requirements and Specific Part 2s (EN60730-2-2 - 19) as well as EN61010-1 safety requirements for electrical measurement, control and laboratory equipment.

UL's Mark for Canada

UL can evaluate products intended for the Canadian marketplace to Canadian standards and codes, and authorize clients to label those products with the UL Mark for Canada. UL can also perform one investigation to demonstrate compliance with the requirements for both the United States and Canada. Use of both the UL Mark and the UL Mark for Canada provides acceptance throughout both countries and greatly reduces your certification and re-examination needs to one effort, a single expense and the need for maintaining only one set of files.

CB scheme assistance

UL will work with DEMKO staff to issue CB Test Reports and Certificates. UL can help electrical/electronic control equipment manufacturers receive national certifications under the CB Scheme and meet Referenced IEC Standards IEC60730-1 Automatic Electrical Controls, Part 1, General Requirements and Specific Part 2s (IEC60730-2-2 - 19) as well as IEC 1010-1, CB Certification for Process Control Equipment.

EMC testing

UL can test electrical/electronic control equipment for compliance with EMC requirements. To find out more about EMC testing, please see the EMC Web pages.

Energy verification services (EVS)

UL evaluates electrical/electronic control equipment and other energy consuming products to U.S. and Canadian energy efficiency regulations. Clients may use UL's Energy Verification Mark on products that comply with these requirements. Clients successfully entered into the EVS program perform testing at their facility and are audited on a quarterly basis.

Field engineering services

UL can evaluate electrical/electronic control equipment that is already installed in the field but does not bear the UL Listing Mark or Classification Marking. UL offers field evaluation, field investigation and field inspection services. To find out more about field evaluations, please see the Field Evaluation Web pages.
