Conditions of Acceptability Advising

The Conditions of Acceptability (CoA) service allows manufacturers to request conditions of acceptability for Recognized Components. Understanding the limitations through Conditions of Acceptability, allows the OEM to make decisions regarding component suitability and substitutability with or without further end product testing. The OEM can save time and money by selecting the component with the proper "pretesting" by UL under the Recognized Components program.

Engineering Support Advising

Engineering support provides technical guidance that is not directly related to a product evaluation or product certification investigation but includes direct access to UL subject matter experts for standards interpretation, guidance, application and risk assessment during product design and development.

 

File Consolidation Advising

UL's file consolidation advisory service provides existing UL customers with guidance and recommendations for file consolidation. UL technical experts will review customers' existing files and recommend whether file consolidation is appropriate. If file consolidation is beneficial, UL engineering staff will work directly with the customer's organization based on the recommendations provided.

 

Government and Regulatory Support Advising

This service provides government and regulatory bodies with process and technical guidance to create and establish standards based conformity assessment type programs.

 

Hazard Based Risk Analysis Advising

UL's hazard based product analysis advisory service provides guidance on the assessment evaluation to identify the safety risks based on the Applied Safety Science and Engineering Techniques (ASSET) and associated methods of mitigation. UL technical experts will work directly with each customer to evaluate hazards associated with your product.

 

Installation Guidance Advising

UL's installation guidance provides customers with analysis and technical guidance of national, state and municipal regulations governing installation and the use of UL Certified or stand-alone products.

 

Laboratory Set-Up Advising

UL's laboratory set-up advisory service is designed to support customers to evaluate the equipment, resources, training and procedural compliance necessary to conduct tests or expand in house capabilities in accordance with UL or other internationally recognized standards. Customers may also be seeking entry into UL's Data Acceptance Program (DAP) and IECEE Manufacturer's Testing Laboratories Program to ensure compliance with DAP and ISO 17025 requirements. This service provides guidance on lab design and set-up, equipment requirement.

 

Market Research Advising

UL University's market research provides a comprehensive market research strategy on global product regulatory and government requirements for a targeted market region(s) based on the customers product and distribution plans.

 

Project Management Advising

UL University's project management provides customers with a dedicated and experienced UL project manager to effectively manage process flow and throughput for customers' projects. Project management could also cover management of seminars or symposiums for other customers. This service is provided from a UL site or on-site at the customer's facility based on the customer's request.

 

Site Assessments Advising

UL's site assessments advisory service includes the research of international, national and local code requirements for applicability to a customer's facility. The service also includes assessment of customer sites for compliance to workplace safety to OSHA regulations or the appropriate workplace safety regulations for the site being assessed. Review of company specific safety requirements for code compliance is also provided.
