UL's certification program for protective coatings cover test procedures and performance criteria for the evaluation of organic and metallic corrosion protection coatings of steel enclosures. The general use of these coatings is for protection of the metal against atmospheric corrosion when applied to surfaces of steel enclosures, typically in outdoor-use environments. Protective coatings that meet UL's requirements are certified in Corrosion Protection Coatings for Steel
The UL Recognized Protective Coatings are suitable for factory application when applied according to the conditions of acceptability and are covered under
UL's Follow-Up Service (FUS) program. UL's FUS Program verifies that the materials continue to be manufactured in compliance with UL's requirements for the established ratings. The final acceptance of a protective coating used for a certified end-product is determined by UL.
