UL 61058-1 to replace UL 1054
UL 61058-1, Standard for Safety for Switches for Appliances is an international standard that harmonizes the standards for UL, CSA and IEC. The Standard for Special-Use Switches, UL 1054, will be replaced in two phases. Switches employed in portable power tools will have to comply with the UL 61058-1 requirements by June 2012. All appliance switches sold in North America must conform to UL 61058-1 by June 2015.
