Disney partnership
At UL, we promote our public safety mission globally through public safety outreach, education and awareness programs. And education has always been an integral part of the family entertainment mission of the Walt Disney Company. Since 1945, when Walt Disney began renting copies of featured films to schools across the country, educators have turned to Disney Educational Productions for curriculum materials that enhance classroom lessons and unlock student creativity. A partnership with Disney to promote safety is a natural outgrowth of our mutual interests in safety education.
Wild About Safety
UL is a founding participant with Disney in its safety education campaign, Wild About Safety. This entertaining educational program uses Disney characters Timon and Pumbaa from the Lion King to educate guests about resort safety. Timon and Pumbaa demonstrate key safety messages and the consequences of unsafe behavior in activity books and many other guest materials used by the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. Wild About Safety is an integral part of the parks' and resorts' global safety initiative to ensure the safety of its attractions. To learn more, visit www.disney.com/safety.
Test the Limits Lab
In 2003, UL opened a 3,000-square-foot exhibit. Test the Limits Lab, within Innoventions at Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The exhibit features five hands-on activities where kids of all ages can "test" products for safety the same way UL engineers do. Guided by highly trained Innoventions cast members, visitors to Test the Limits Lab can "implode" television screens, put vacuum cleaners through their paces and even drop 55-gallon barrels on firefighter helmets to see whether they can withstand the impact.
