Ethics and Compliance

Our Mission:

The mission of UL's Ethics & Compliance Office is to promote and maintain a values-driven corporate culture, ensuring that the principles of integrity, honesty, quality and fairness are integrated into our business practices on a consistent basis around the world.

Standards of Business Conduct:

As we expand our services and global impact, we must continue to build on our company's strong reputation for integrity and ethical behavior. We must guide our actions with a clear understanding of legal and regulatory requirements, our policies and procedures, and shared ethical principles and values.  These Standards of Business Conduct reflect our shared values and our collective commitment to UL's high standards.  The Standards inform each UL employee of our ethical and legal obligations to UL, our customers, society and each other. Everyone at UL is responsible for understanding and complying with these Standards.  Every year, each UL employee will be required to confirm that he/she has read, understood and complied with these Standards of Business Conduct.

UL Global Supplier Standards of Conduct:

Suppliers play an important role in helping UL fulfill its Public Safety Mission.   Although our Suppliers are independent entities, their actions and decisions when doing business with or on behalf of UL can impact our business and reputation for integrity.  UL expects Suppliers to embrace its commitment to integrity and high standards for moral and ethical conduct.  All Suppliers, their employees, agents and subcontractors, are expected to comply with these Global Supplier Standards of Conduct and UL's Anti-bribery and Corruption Policy.

UL Anti-bribery & Corruption Policy:

As a global company, UL must comply with the anti-bribery and corruption laws and regulations of every country in which UL operates, including the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA") and the UK Bribery Act.  These standards are minimum standards that apply to all employees, UL's Board of Trustees, UL's President  & CEO, all members of UL's management team and any third parties that work with or on behalf of or are associated with UL. The Anti-bribery & Corruption Policy was created to state UL's zero tolerance approach to bribery and to provide direction to assist in the prevention of bribery and corruption.
