Social Responsibility and Accountability
Corporate accountability is a vital key to success in today's market. UL's Responsible Sourcing provides global monitoring, training and consulting services to help customers comply with social and environmental laws and standards across the entire supply chain.
In today's market, a company’s reputation is built on responsible practices and complete transparency. It is equally critical that all partners throughout the supply chain share and abide by those same responsible practices.
UL's Responsible Sourcing is a trusted advisor in developing, deploying and maintaining social and environmental compliance at home and around the world. We deliver innovative solutions through customized services that establish, assess, track and measure supply chain sustainability programs.
We have a footprint in more than 140 countries, and we annually conduct over 20,000 audits of factories, farms, processing plants and warehouses worldwide.
Our global network of in-house researchers makes UL a leader in the supply chain responsibility space. More importantly, it enables us to put our extensive knowledge of standards and best practices to work for you.
We provide a true competitive edge to our customers by sharing key insights and actionable intelligence that help them make the right critical business sourcing decisions. And we're there every step of the way, from providing auditors immediate access to specific laws during the audit process to advising our customers on emerging standards and issues that may affect their businesses.
We also offer a wide array of classroom and e-learning opportunities in over 15 languages for brands, retailers, suppliers and factories.
UL's Responsible Sourcing is an accredited monitor for Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP), the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) and SAI's (Social Accountability International) SA8000 standard for measuring social compliance in the workplace.
We are active in a broad range of monitoring initiatives, including the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), the Fair Factories Clearinghouse (FFC) and the Initiative Clause Sociale (ICS). In addition, we conduct Sedex Members Ethical Trade audits (SMETA), used by members of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and AIM-PROGRESS, and upload reports to the Sedex online platform.
To assist in harmonizing social compliance industry best practices, we also helped to draft the Global Social Compliance Programme (GSCP) reference tools, and are participating in the GSCP Equivalence Process.
