Government and corporate-sponsored research
Each year, the federal government sponsors research projects that explore a variety of product safety issues. These studies, in turn, benefit manufacturers of specific products by helping them focus their product design and development efforts. As a leading testing laboratory, UL routinely undertakes these research projects on behalf of the government. UL lends its expertise and insights to help manufacturers benefit from this research by:
- Identifying government agencies to target for research requests.
- Contributing technical expertise to developing proposal content.
- Managing the time intensive grant application process.
With well-crafted research proposals, manufacturers can attract government resources to subsidize their own product research. Rigorous safety research can speed up the production cycle and create a foundation for better and safer products.
