UL proudly presents the 90th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting.
President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and their family officially lit the tree at a gala celebration on Dec. 6, 2012, carrying on an American tradition started by President Calvin Coolidge in 1923. This year’s event was hosted by acclaimed actor Neil Patrick Harris and featured performances by a lineup of top musicians. This was UL’s fourth premier sponsorship of the event, which is part of the company’s national safety campaign to educate consumers on how they can make their homes safer during the holidays.
