ULtra Food Safety Services

ULtra Food Safety Services may be selected according to your own needs. UL recognizes that your needs vary at times an that you value the flexibility of customized services. ULtra builds upon the requirements set forth in the Recommended International Code of Practice, General Principles of Food Hygiene of the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

Services That Inform You

Pre-assessment

Preassessment of your food safety management system, individual processes and/or documentation is an integral part of ULtra. All or part of your food safety program will be evaluated, including such elements as planning, implementation, evaluation, training and communication. You will be provided with a report detailing all known food safety hazards involved with the food products or services. In addition, we will assess the effectiveness of your control and monitoring procedures to minimize the risk of food safety hazard.

Services Leading to Registration

Initial assessment audit

This is a comprehensive audit for the purpose of determining eligibility for UL Registration or acceptance under a proprietary program of others. For the latter, the initial assessment audit may be conducted in accordance with specifications provided by others (e.g. NFPA SAFE). Although not formally part of the Program, ISO 9000 criteria can be incorporated in the service for those clients also seeking ISO Registration.

Ongoing Audits: Limited and Full

On-going audits typically presume appropriate completion of all other (except Special) services. The purpose is to verify continuing compliance with requirements. They are a prerequisite for authorization to us a UL mark or may be incorporated in a client's purchasing specification criteria. The extent of auditing (limited / full) would depend upon the requirements of registration and/or risk analysis.

Special Services

Technical and Regulatory Compliance Services

ULtra applies a risk analysis approach to food safety using the latest scientific knowledge to enhance and improve the client's food safety process. A detailed report of UL's findings is prepared after completion of tasks identified by the client.

Communication Services

ULtra values the necessity of timely, informed and effective communication in food safety. ULtra will test your preparation to face the public and other constituents when a food safety message is warranted.
