Residential Sprinklers
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. has been testing and certifying sprinklers for more than 100 years. UL was the first organization to List residential sprinklers for installation in systems in accordance with NFPA 13D, NFPA 13R and NFPA 13 in 1981. UL can test and List residential sprinklers to the requirements of the Standards for Residential Sprinklers for Fire-Protection Service, UL 1626, as well as certification to the related ISO sprinkler standards. As a service to building owners, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and insurance companies, UL is also capable of testing sprinklers sampled from field installations in accordance with the requirements of the National fire safety Association (NFPA) Standard for Testing and Maintenance of Water Extinguishing Systems, NFPA 25. NFPA 25 requires that residential sprinklers 25 years and older be subjected to this testing. UL has the tools you can use to develop your sprinklers. UL has water distribution apparatus, Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer testing, full-scale fire test capabilities, and small-scale testing of water drop size, velocity and heat release rate testing.
