UL, GTI and Industry Leaders Begin Distributed Generation (DG) Performance Study

Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) and the Gas Technology Institute (GTI) hosted a meeting at UL's global headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois to address performance issues associated with specific types of DG equipment. In attendance at the October 8th meeting were turbine and microturbine manufacturers, manufacturers of reciprocating engine generators, representatives of user groups as well as members of federal and state government organizations.

Chairman Robert Pence (UL) and GTI spokesperson Ted Bronson introduced and explained to those in attendance the framework of a basic test outline intended to lend consistency and structure to a variety of performance issues that have been perceived by some as potential roadblocks to the expeditious installation of DG equipment.

A meeting report, including a summary of the topics discussed and a list of those who participated has been prepared. Those wishing copies may click here to download a copy in Adobe Acrobat PDF Format. For additional information please contact Alan McGrath at Alan.T.McGrath@us.ul.com.
